The Nurturing Fibers

The story of The Nurturing Fibers is the story of a woman, Carle, who enjoyes the art of well dyed yarn.  Her colours are inspired by nature, childhood memories, emotions and as she says, the good life that she lives in South Africa.

Together with her team she dyes wool from local, free ranging non-mulesed sheep, bamboo from sustainable farming or locally grown and organic certified cotton. The water used to soak skeins before dyeing is used to irrigate the staffs vegetable garden and the water used in the dyeing process is ph-balanced and then used to irrigate 120 olive trees.

Over the last 12 years she has developed dyeing methods and been able to create a wonderful colour palette. Amazing colours that are telling a story.

At OPENstudio79 we have a large selection of her Vintage Colour Palette of the Super Twist Sock Yarn. Right now one of the projects I have on my needles is Rachel Coopey's Hulanicki sock pattern from PomPom quarterly Winter issue. ...and guess what sock yarn I am using for it ? :) Yes! The Nurturing fibers, colour Sea Glass.
Soon you will be able to purchase theses beautiful yarns at our OPENstudio79 online-shop. I am working on it to share with you a small curated selection of the things I love. Stay tuned.
